Why Today? — Understanding Chronon's Chart Reasoning
Why Today? is Chronon's Premium inline panel for chart reasoning, confidence, and optional classical basis — not a separate technical dashboard.
Why Today? is how Chronon explains the reasoning behind your daily read — without turning Today into a technical astrology dashboard.
It lives inline on the Today tab for Premium users. Free users see premium depth summarized in one calm upsell panel after the free habit loop.
What it shows
Why Today? surfaces deterministic chart reasoning:
- active cycle and operating mode
- pulse theme and timing window
- main recommendation and confidence level
- birth-time sensitivity
- chart settings (ayanamsa, zodiac mode, house system, calculation mode)
Optional classical basis loads only when you explicitly request it — via source trace — not on every daily open.
Confidence is not certainty
When Chronon shows a confidence percentage, it reflects how clearly today’s timing pattern stands out. It is not a prediction guarantee.
That distinction matters for responsible product design. Timing can highlight pattern and pressure; it cannot remove your agency.
Why not a separate Explain tab
Chronon v2 keeps explanation where you need it: on Today, after you have already received useful guidance.
A separate Explain tab felt like engineering-first navigation. Why Today? answers the question people actually ask: Why is this showing up for me today?
Consumer language over jargon
Older internal names like “Source Trace” or “calculation settings” are translated for the app as Why Today? and chart settings. Jyotish remains the engine; the interface stays readable.
When to use it
Use Why Today? when:
- a daily read resonates and you want to see the structure behind it
- you are learning how Chronon maps cycles and windows to guidance
- you want optional classical citations for deeper study
Skip it when you only need the habit loop and reflection question — that is enough for many days.
